We are excited to announce that we been confirmed as finalists in the 2015 Auckland Export Awards. IQ Commercial are finalists in the following categories: Innovation for Export and Emerging Exporter of the Year Award.

The 25 finalists in the seven categories of this year’s Air NZ Cargo Auckland Export Awards traverse the widest range of New Zealand enterprise, from home brew, robots, marine winches and self-service payment systems.

The companies entering the Awards also range from the largest, most well established to small and emerging businesses, said Catherine Lye, Export New Zealand’s Auckland director.

“We are delighted to be able to showcase such a brilliant cross section of New Zealand’s most innovative, successful and exciting companies,” Ms Lye said. “The depth and range of the companies attracted to enter our awards reflect the prestige with which they are held,” she said.

Comments from the judges: Four years ago, IQ Commercial commenced a strategy to develop commercial furniture that would contribute to improved business performance.  Research into open plan environments identified acoustics as a major problem. Their research and collaboration with innovative researchers led to the development of Phonix™, a world-leading application of nano fibre technology as a substrate in furniture.  Many thousands of ultra-thin fibres are electro-spun into a dense lightweight layer and incorporated into office furniture to absorb sound energy.  IQ Commercial’s skill is in the utilisation of the nano fibre technology for which it has now developed eight different applications.  The judges were also impressed by IQ Commercial’s use of networks and collaboration with other researchers to come up with truly innovative products.

IQ Commercial exports over 30% of production, mainly to the Asia Pacific region. The company is growing rapidly, has recently signed with a US distributor and is researching nano fibre applications beyond acoustics that will enhance well-being in commercial environments.

The winners of the Air NZ Cargo Auckland Export Award categories along with the Supreme Award winner, and the 2015 Export Champion will be presented at a gala dinner at the Langham hotel on Thursday June 18th 2015.
